Scott D. Applegate is the Global Director for Cyber Security Operations & Risk at Dentons, the world's largest multinational law firm, where he leads cybersecurity operations, cyber threat intelligence, and vulnerability management across 180 offices in more than 80 countries. Prior to joining Dentons, Mr. Applegate spent 28 years in the United States Army as an Intelligence Analyst, Communications Officer, and Cyber Operations Officer. He previously served as the Deputy Division Chief for Cyber Policy on the Joint Staff (J5), advising senior leadership at the Pentagon and the White House; Current Operations Chief for Defensive Cyberspace Operations for the U.S. Army, managing defense and incident response across 2.2 million endpoints; and as Chief of the U.S. Army Red Team conducting adversarial emulation and vulnerability assessments of major commands. He currently teaches Ethics in Cybersecurity at Georgetown University's Cybersecurity & Risk Management Master's program, and previously taught graduate courses in cybersecurity and cyber conflict at George Washington University from 2012 to 2020. He holds the CISSP-ISSMP, CISSP, GCIH, GCTI, GSOM, and CEH certifications.
